Job summary
AES Corporation in the United States seeks a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development across the US and internationally. Work with a team to qualify opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities, coordinating with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams.
Requires 5+ years in renewables, PV and storage design/analysis experience, and ability to travel up
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
- Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools and packages, such as PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
- Proficiency with common CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MS Office applications, and advanced Excel.
Responsibilities
- Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
- Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
- Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
- Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
- Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
- Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
- Technical diligence for new project opportunities and third-party data.
- Support for RFPs and development tasks up to 30% design studies.
