Job summary

Dow Inc. seeks a Database Service Manager to architect and lead database platform solutions from Midland, MI or Houston, TX. You will drive RDBMS projects across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments, ensure backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery, while coordinating with managed services and security teams.

You will collaborate with IT leadership to evaluate new solutions, manage licensing, and advance Dow standards with a focus on cost efficiency and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience at/above US E5 or Canadian PO2/Sergeant or 8 years’ experience in lieu.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a closely related field.
• U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead database platform solutions for Dow.
• Research, analyze and implement RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle) and other DB technologies for on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Collaborate to develop and maintain database technologies roadmap.
• Architect, design and implement backup/recovery, HA, DR, and related maintenance tasks.
• Partner with Database Managed Services to ensure timely, efficient delivery and adherence to SLAs.
• Collaborate with Cloud and On-prem platforms, developers, network and security teams to meet Dow standards at the lowest TCO.
• Maintain Dow’s database inventory and licensing; support audits as needed.
• Assist IT Leadership in evaluating new solutions and vendor proposals.
• Leverage AI tools to automate database activities while ensuring security and performance.
