Job summary

Dow Inc. is seeking a Database Service Manager to lead architecture and implementation of modern database platforms across on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments. The role will drive reliability, security and performance while aligning with Dow standards.

Based in Midland, MI or Houston, TX, you will collaborate with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to manage backups, DR/HA, licensing, and audits, and you will explore AI-enabled automation to improve efficiency and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience at or above specified ranks or 8 years in lieu.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a closely related field.
• U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead database platform solutions for Dow.
• Research, analyze and implement state-of-the-art RDBMS and other database technologies for on-prem, cloud and hybrid environments.
• Collaborate with the Database IT Leader and Enterprise Architecture to develop and maintain database technologies roadmap.
• Architect, design and implement backup, HA, DR and day-to-day activities like installation, patching and upgrades.
• Partner with Database Managed Services to ensure timely delivery and adherence to SLAs.
• Ensure database solutions meet Dow standards, control costs and deliver performance.
• Maintain Dow's database inventory and licensing needs; support audits.
• Assist IT Leadership in evaluating new solutions and vendors; leverage AI tools to automate tasks while upholding security and performance.
