Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls across the enterprise data estate, including platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server. This 100% remote role works with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams to safeguard institutional data.

You will harden configurations, manage encryption and keys, enforce least-privilege access, and automate deployment and compliance validation using IaC

Qualifications

• 7+ years of information security experience with 2+ years in data protection.
• Proficiency with SQL and database security configurations.
• Experience with Azure, SQL Server, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong scripting/automation via APIs or IaC.
• Understanding of FERPA/GLBA/PCI DSS and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Implement, operate, and improve data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configure encryption controls and manage keys.
• Enforce least-privilege access models and perform entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for cloud platforms and data pipelines.
• Automate deployment and compliance validation using scripting, IaC, and platform APIs.
