Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server. This is a hands-on role focused on encryption, access controls, data classification, masking, and secure pipelines, with remote work options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain data protection controls across the data estate.
• Configure encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Embed security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
• Harden security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server.
• Provide hands-on technical support to teams deploying data solutions.
• Collaborate with Security Operations and Data Governance to improve controls.
