Job summary

Affimr is hiring a senior backend engineer to own scalable systems and drive critical data infrastructure. You will design, develop, and deploy backend services using Python or Kotlin, work with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, and scale with modern data tools.

This is a remote-friendly role supporting a national footprint. The team focuses on reliable, high-availability data platforms to enable analytics, ML, and product engineering.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Terraform.
• Ability to plan and deliver large features with a simple and extensible design.
• Strong collaboration and communication with teams.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics in the lifecycle of product development.
• Identify and solve project, process, technology, or business issues proactively.
• Maintain operations and availability of team artifacts with metrics and on-call support.
• Set and improve code review and design standards across the team.
