Job summary

Affimr is seeking an experienced backend leader to design, develop, and scale core data systems. You will guide engineers in delivering reliable services, collaborating with product, design, and analytics to balance risks and trade-offs, and champion code quality across the org.

You will shape architecture for data platforms, own delivery of major features, and mentor teammates while contributing to a remote-first, high-performance culture at Affimr.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems (AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Proficient with Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals and lead engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics across lifecycle.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues in projects or processes.
• Maintain and monitor team artifacts with metrics and on-call support.
• Set and promote code review and design standards beyond the team.
• Mentor and develop team members through feedback and example.
