Job summary

Affimr seeks an experienced backend engineer to own and deliver scalable services in a remote-first environment. You will design, implement, and operate backend systems using Python or Kotlin, leveraging AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes while scaling Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience scaling Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform.
• Define a technical plan for the delivery of a significant feature or system component with an elegant design.
• Write high quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Take ownership of growth, seek feedback from team and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication for a global team.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals and deliverables for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ideate, articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology or business issues.
• Maintain operations and availability of team artifacts with metrics and on-call support.
• Set and promote code review and design standards beyond the team.
• Mentor and develop talent, leading by example.
