Job summary

Affimr is seeking a seasoned backend engineer to own end-to-end delivery for a Lakehouse Infra initiative. You’ll architect and operate scalable systems built with Python or Kotlin, and collaborate with product, design, and analytics to balance risk and speed.

You’ll drive reliability with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes, while leveraging Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake, and Terraform to support data-heavy workloads.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with data technologies like Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake and Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics across the end-to-end lifecycle.
• Identify and resolve project, process, technology or business issues and drive solutions.
• Monitor metrics and support on-call efforts to ensure reliability and availability.
• Set and elevate code review and design standards, and share learnings broadly.
• Mentor teammates and foster growth through feedback and example.
