Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC is seeking a Controls Engineer II in Wyoming, MI to own the full engineering lifecycle of custom automation projects. You will design electrical systems and software architectures, program PLC/robot controls, and support from concept through on-site commissioning.

The role requires strong electrical design skills, familiarity with NEC/NFPA 79, and experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley tools (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View). Travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent.
• 5+ years designing, building, and programming automation systems.
• Experience with NEC, NFPA 79, and RIA TR R15.06.
• Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine control software architectures.
• Integrate robotics, vision, VFDs, and servo systems into control logic.
• Configure network interfaces (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet).
• Create electrical panel schematics and BOMs using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Develop robot paths and offline programming to streamline integration.
• Lead commissioning and on-site support at customer facilities.
• Mentor junior controls engineers and ensure safety standards are met.
