Job summary

Markent Personnel seeks a Controls Engineer II in Wyoming, MI to own the full lifecycle of custom automation projects—from inception through on-site commissioning. The role demands electrical design acumen, software architecture, and strict adherence to safety standards.

Collaborate across disciplines to meet project milestones and client expectations. You will work with Rockwell/AB platforms, AutoCAD Electrical, and robotics integrations while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of direct industry experience designing, building, and programming custom industrial automation systems.
• Experience with NEC, NFPA 79, and RIA TR R15.06 electrical codes.
• Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley platforms required; other platforms preferred.
• AutoCAD Electrical competency.
• Experience with major industrial robot brands preferred.
• Strong root-cause analysis and troubleshooting abilities.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design and program machine control architectures using PLCs and HMIs.
• Integrate robotics, vision systems, drives, and servo applications.
• Configure and troubleshoot network interfaces (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Profinet).
• Create electrical panels, layouts, and BOMs using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Develop robot paths and offline programming for deployment.
• Lead engineering standards and reusable code libraries.
• Review customer specs to ensure correct hardware and software.
• Coordinate system integration, startup, and on-site commissioning.
• Provide on-site commissioning support and client handover documentation.
• Conduct safety assessments and ensure compliant interfaces.
