Job summary

ApartmentIQ is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and scale the accounting function at our fast-growing SaaS company. Reporting to the CFO, you will own financial reporting, month-end close, audits, compliance, and accounting operations while partnering with executives to drive strategic growth.

You will build robust processes, implement modern financial tools, and balance strategic leadership with hands-on accounting tasks across the organization, fostering a culture of accountability

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA certification required.
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Experience leading audits and implementing internal controls.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience working in high-growth or startup SaaS environments.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and reports.
• Ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition compliance.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Improve and automate accounting processes for scalability.
• Lead annual financial statement audits and manage auditors.
• Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance.
• Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Build scalable accounting infrastructure and mentor staff.
• Hands-on leadership across day-to-day accounting tasks.
