Overview

We are supporting an incredible VC backed SaaS business who've developed a workflow AI platform aimed at enterprise clients. Founded in 2018, they have doubled ARR the past 2 years and are hiring a Controller who will partner with the founder and report to the Finance Director. This will be the first in-house accounting hire, and number 2 in finance; an ownership-focused role to build operating and financial best practices from scratch to support scaling. Currently they outsource functions and will bring everything in-house, combining technical accounting with strategic leadership. Long-term ambitions include an IPO, and equity is available.

Base pay range: $220,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr

Remote with an SF office; SF location not essential — Anywhere in the US. VISA not available (accepts H1B) but no sponsorship is available. Salary and equity are negotiable for the right candidate.

Duties

• Lead and scale the accounting function at a high-growth SaaS company, overseeing all reporting, processes, controls, and systems (audit, revenue, treasury, reporting, forecasting, etc.).
• Implement systems to improve efficiency, shorten close cycles, and support growth with scalable, automated processes.
• Own and optimize month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate internal/external reporting.
• Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.

Candidate

• CPA / ACA from Big 4 | 10-22 Years Post Qualified (Big 4 experience essential).
• Very hands-on role — able to get into the weeds while leading the function.
• Post-qualified experience in high-velocity/VC SaaS startup with ideally known logo.
• Experience with high/hyper-growth and funding (e.g., Series A through Series D, or post-IPO).
• Owned the first-year audit process.
• Experience designing processes, implementing systems and tools; ability to think strategically while managing high-volume growth.
