Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC – A&H Group in the United States is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Underwriter to build and manage a profitable middle-market construction book. The ideal candidate brings at least 5 years of E&S construction underwriting experience with a track record of handling larger, complex contractor accounts and growing a meaningful book of business.

This role prioritizes marketing to brokers, owning a territory with minimal supervision, and making sound underwriting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts and managing a sizeable book of business.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Contact and respond to inquiries from brokers within designated timeframe to provide information and underwriting support.
• Create and maintain documentation for new and renewal files and underwriting worksheets according to guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and policies.
• Approve or deny within given authority or recommend approvals/denials to higher authority.
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate underwriting and business development.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
