Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Underwriter for a remote, national role focusing on middle-market construction. You will develop and manage a profitable book, market to brokers, and operate with minimal supervision to drive growth.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in E&S construction underwriting, a strong production mindset, and a track record of growing a significant book of business, with the ability to handle larger, more complex accounts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.
• Proven ownership of a sizeable book of business (e.g., $3M–$5M).
• Experience marketing to brokers and developing business relationships.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, endorsements and limits, and determine pricing.
• Respond to brokers with timely information and underwriting guidance.
• Maintain documentation for new and renewal files and underwriting worksheets.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives and company policies.
• Approve or deny within authority or escalate to higher authority as needed.
• Cultivate relationships to facilitate underwriting and promote business development.
• Support other staff with underwriting procedures and guidelines.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
