Job summary

Argo Group is seeking a production underwriter to market, underwrite and process assigned lines of business in a collaborative office environment in Chicago. You will manage submissions, advise brokers, and maintain a robust pipeline to meet production targets.

The role requires at least five years of underwriting experience, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to travel about 20% of the time. A Bachelor's degree and industry designations (IIA/CPCU) are preferred, with a competitive bonus

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
• Minimum five years underwriting experience with authority.
• IIA and CPCU designations strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to underwrite accounts profitably.
• Strong negotiation and customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our assigned area.
• Ensure our marketing initiatives are achieved and that consistent communication of our products and services are provided to our retail and wholesale brokers.
• Further develop existing broker relations as well as establish new relationships in targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
• Actively participate in client and broker meetings.
• Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
• Use market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence and cross sell other products.
