Job summary

Argo Group is seeking a production underwriter to market, underwrite and process assigned lines of business in our in-office environment. You will mentor staff and participate in special projects while maintaining strong broker relations across retail and wholesale channels.

The role requires five years of underwriting experience, a Bachelor's degree, and professional designations (IIA/CPCU). Strong analytical, negotiation, and Excel/Outlook/Word skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required or equivalent.
• IIA and CPCU designations strongly preferred.
• Minimum five years underwriting experience with authority.
• Strong customer service orientation and meeting customer expectations.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and analyze new business and renewal submissions for our assigned area.
• Ensure our marketing initiatives are achieved and that consistent communication of our products and services are provided to our retail and wholesale brokers.
• Further develop existing broker relations as well as establish new relationships in targeted territories to attract business opportunities.
• Actively participate in client and broker meetings.
• Develop and maintain a submission pipeline sufficient to achieve overall production and business mix objectives.
• Use market contacts to bring in business, gather and share market intelligence and cross sell other products.
