Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to oversee the daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. You will supervise direct labor and manage any contracted work to ensure successful project completion.

This role requires extensive construction knowledge, strong leadership, and effective communication with project teams, subs, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction; at least 5 years commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Valid driver's license; ability to travel to project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately and understands building codes.
• Experience with subcontractors' scopes and tolerances.
• Clear written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.
• Monitors progress and coordinates work activities; keeps team informed.
• Strong management skills to supervise subordinates and delegate effectively.
• Upholds ethics and company policies; maintains professionalism.
• Operates office equipment; can use spreadsheet and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction, basing on schedules and staffing.
• Develops and uses look-ahead schedules with Project Manager to track progress.
• Coordinates pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager before mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Keeps all parties informed of construction progress and issues; coordinates with clients and subs.
• Resolves complaints and coordinates with labor representatives and supervisors.
• Assists in resolving construction problems to improve methods.
• Inspects work to ensure conformity with specs and schedules.
• Manages project progress and adjusts schedules; moves personnel between projects as needed.
• Prepares Project Management Plan with Project Manager.
