Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily site operations, scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. The role supervises direct labor and contracted work to ensure project success.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager, reviewing look-ahead schedules, mobilization planning, and ensuring safety and quality standards. Requires 5+ years in commercial construction and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5+ years commercial construction experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes and codes.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication; valid driver’s license and travel willingness.
• Understanding of subcontractor scopes and labor cost management.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications and plan procedures for construction and staffing.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to develop schedules and look-ahead plans.
• Coordinate pre-construction meeting and mobilization activities.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Keep all parties informed of progress and issues; liaise with subs and clients.
• Resolve workforce issues with supervisors and labor representatives.
• Work with engineers, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve problems.
• Inspect ongoing work for conformance to specs and schedules.
• Manage project progress, costs, and schedules; adjust as needed.
• Support Manager of Craft Resources in staffing and cost control.
