Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Technical Specialist, Specialty Liability in California to manage and investigate moderate complexity injury and property damage claims from first notice to resolution. You will determine coverage, evaluate liability, assess damages, establish reserves, and issue timely payments within authority while fostering professional relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Three years of liability, bodily injury or comparable claim experience.
• Two years of litigation claim experience.
• Active adjuster license, where required by state law.
• Experience with claims management systems, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to comprehend, synthesize, and clearly articulate complex information to multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, exercise sound judgement, and make effective decisions independently.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload and prioritize effectively.
• Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills; ability to handle complex or disputed claims, negotiate settlements, and manage litigation.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage an active caseload of injury and/or property damage claims and litigation from first notice of loss through resolution within level of authority.
• Typically, handle personal and/or business insurance high complexity liability claims which may include coverage disputes and contractual indemnity issues.
• Gather and thoroughly investigate information by contacting all relevant parties to determine coverage, evaluate liability exposure, assess bodily injury and/or property damage, and establish appropriate reserves in accordance with policy terms and management guidance.
• Provide timely and professional communication to customers, representatives, opposing counsel, third-party vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Leverage resolution strategies and coordinate internal and external resources to conduct comprehensive claim investigations and evaluations.
• Actively negotiate with multiple constituents and convey claim settlements within authority and issue payments timely and accurately.
• Assist in coordinating with Counsel to support litigation management strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of claim activity in claim management systems.
• Identify areas to improve current best practices and offer creative solutions.
• Adapt to new technology implementations and AI tools while maintaining productivity and service quality.
