Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform to own and evolve the core compute orchestration layer used by hundreds of services. You will shape tooling, automation, and new compute capabilities, empowering engineers to deploy and operate critical services at scale.

You will partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to uphold security, uptime, and performance. Experience building and operating Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar compute orchestration systems.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java with production-grade infrastructure experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP in production-scale environments.
• Design and operate distributed infrastructure systems and diagnose complex failures to root cause.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Develop developer-facing tooling and workflows with AI-driven processes.
• Deliver new compute capabilities such as one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and right-sizing.
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, and improve observability and incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet standards.
