Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve the Compute Platform that powers our services.

You will architect and ship tooling that lets hundreds of engineers deploy and operate critical services with a focus on AI-driven processes, reliability, and scalable automation. The role emphasizes Kubernetes-based compute orchestration, CNCF tooling, and collaborative work with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise the bar on security and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years on Kubernetes-orchestrated platforms.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java for production-grade infra services.
• Hands-on with AWS/GCP services (EC2, IAM, VPC, etc.) at scale.
• Experience designing and operating distributed infrastructure systems.
• Familiarity with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy).
• Ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation at scale.
• Develop developer-facing tooling to improve interactions with Kubernetes, including AI-driven processes.
• Deliver compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and automated right-sizing.
• Improve platform observability, reduce toil, and enhance incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet security and uptime standards.
