Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform to own the primary compute orchestration infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers.

You will design and ship tooling, automation, and new capabilities built largely on Kubernetes and Istio, enabling scalable, reliable services across the product suite. You will partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise the bar across the stack and drive operational excellence through automation,

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with Kubernetes experience.
• Proficient in Go, Python or Java for production-grade infra services.
• Hands-on with AWS and/or GCP in production at scale.
• Ability to design, operate distributed infrastructure systems and diagnose complex failures.
• Familiar with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) and applying them to infra problems.
• Ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Develop developer-facing tooling and workflows for Kubernetes with AI-driven processes.
• Deliver compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and right-sizing.
• Improve platform observability, reduce toil, and enhance incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability to meet standards.
