Job summary

NBT is seeking a Compliance Specialist III in the United States to prepare complex government filings and compliance tests, mentor teammates, and ensure accuracy within service standards. The role requires an ASPPA QKA designation and an Associates degree with 5+ years of related experience, plus proficiency in Excel and Word.

The candidate will publish Form 5500 and related schedules, review plan eligibility, and handle complex plan types while maintaining quality and timeliness across filings.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 5+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ASPPA Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designation required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare compliance tests and year end packages including: review plan eligibility, eligibility determination, contribution calculations, tests and peer review.
• Prepare, review, and publish Form 5500, Form 5330, Form 8955-SSA and other regulatory forms; reconcile Form 5500 and schedules for large filer plans.
• Maintain knowledge of moderately complex plans and continue learning more complex plans such as cross-tested profit sharing allocations, balance forward valuations, and defined benefit plans.
• Research and resolve testing and 5500 issues; mentor colleagues and help implement best practices with managers.
• Prepare asset reconciliation and research differences for valuation, testing and reporting.
• Prepare outside asset and balance forward earnings allocations and participant validations.
• Prepare Plan Documents as needed (Restatements, Amendments, SPDs, notices) and assist with QDRO allocations and corrective earnings calculations.
