Job summary

Fairstead is seeking a Senior Community Manager to lead day-to-day on-site operations at an affordable housing property in New York. You will oversee leasing, maintenance, compliance, and resident relations to ensure high-quality service and regulatory compliance.

The role requires HUD, Fair Housing, ADA, and LIHTC knowledge; experience with Yardi/RealPage is preferred. Bachelor's degree is preferred; competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of management experience
• Experience with affordable housing regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools

Responsibilities

• Ensure leasing and regulatory compliance with HUD, Fair Housing, ADA, and FCRA.
• Remain compliant with HUD 4350.3 Handbook and coordinate with Compliance.
• Prepare responses to regulatory agencies with Compliance Department.
• Implement intervention strategies for tenants non-compliant with lease terms.
• Prepare site REAC reviews, MORs, LIHTC reviews, and recertifications.
• Assist tenants with requests and inquiries.
• Monitor arrears, litigation, and bad-debt write-offs.
• Document lease violations and coordinate evictions.
• Oversee rent collection, applications, and delinquency actions.
• Notify staff of move-ins/outs and emergencies.
• Supervise maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate vendor bids and contractor quotes.
• Conduct unit inspections and bi-annual walk-throughs.
• Prepare reports on building condition and needs.
• Support construction projects and avoid violations during inspections.
• Attend monthly financial meetings and monitor budgets.
