Job summary

Fairstead is seeking a skilled Community Manager to oversee on-site operations across its affordable housing portfolio. You will ensure regulatory compliance, manage day-to-day activities, and coordinate with construction and compliance teams to maintain high standards.

The role requires deep knowledge of HUD, LIHTC, and tax credit properties, with a focus on resident satisfaction and fiscally responsible management. Join a growth‑driven team delivering value to communities nationwide.

Qualifications

• Three years of management experience including supervising a team.
• COS or CPO certification.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• EIV experience.
• Yardi and RealPage experience preferred.
• TCS certification for tax credit properties.
• Experience in Affordable Housing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to laws relating to leasing, including HUD, Fair Housing, ADA, and FCRA.
• Remain compliant with HUD 4350.3 Handbook.
• Develop responses to regulatory agencies with Compliance Department.
• Intervention strategies with Regional Managers for non-compliant tenants.
• Prepare REAC reviews, MOR, LIHTC reviews, and recertifications.
• Assist tenants with requests and complaints.
• Monitor arrears and litigation; coordinate evictions as needed.
• Direct collection of rents and processing of applications; pursue delinquencies.
• Alert staff of move-ins/outs and emergencies.
• Supervise maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate vendor bids and contractor quotes.
• Conduct unit inspections and bi-annual walkthroughs.
• Create reports on property maintenance; coordinate renovations.
• Work with construction team to avoid violations and inspections.
• Attend monthly financial catch-ups and monitor budgets.
