Job summary

Provident Bank in Paramus, NJ is seeking an experienced CRE Credit Underwriter to perform detailed research and analysis of complex real estate loan requests. The role requires deep knowledge of cash flow, project economics, guarantor analysis, and regulatory guidelines, with responsibility to mentor junior staff.

You will support Commercial Loan Officers on calls, participate in deal structuring, and may lead special projects, vendor management, and reporting to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics; MBA preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in CRE credit underwriting.
• Thorough knowledge of underwriting, credit analysis, loan structure and regulatory guidance.
• Strong CRE lending knowledge across office, industrial, hotels, retail, multifamily, and more.
• Proficient with DSCR, cash flow, budgets, sources/uses, and mitigants.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare loan approvals and annual reviews; analyze credits for new requests, modifications, and extensions.
• Analyze cash flows, project economics, market analysis, valuations, and guarantor statements.
• Join Officers on customer calls; discuss creditworthiness with management.
• Conduct third party research and industry reports.
• Prepare reports and handle special assignments.
• Support 3rd party vendor management.
• Supervise and mentor junior analysts when needed.
