Job summary

Syms Strategic Group seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide 24/7 support for complex cloud-based applications. This remote, full-time role requires strong Linux/Windows expertise, scripting, and experience with AWS/Azure.

You will diagnose outages, implement fixes, and coordinate with VA standards and security policies. Required 8+ years in systems engineering, 3+ years SQL/monitoring, and a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, especially in production environments.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL queries and monitoring
• Public Trust (MBI) security clearance or the ability to obtain
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or related field

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
• Detect, isolate, document, report, and resolve system outages or problems encountered during operations of technical workloads.
• Accurately document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems; escalate when required.
• Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and senior management.
• Maintain and install computing infrastructure.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets.
• Ensure compliance with VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
