Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer on the Observability Platform to design, scale, and operate high‑throughput telemetry pipelines across multiple cloud providers and datacenters. You will mentor teams, implement OpenTelemetry strategies, and collaborate with SRE and platform teams to raise the bar on reliability and performance.

You will build backend services in Go/Java, drive security with mTLS and secret management, and shape end‑to‑end observability

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, and incident management.
• 5+ years building production backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms and AWS/GCP/Azure.
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and collector strategy.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks, and alerting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to define reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident reviews.
• Automate workflows with CI/CD and platform tooling.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secret management.
• Produce high-quality technical docs and platform standards.
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship and design reviews.
