Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to design, scale and operate data pipelines that carry logs, metrics and traces across multiple clouds and datacenters.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with SRE and platform teams, and drive OpenTelemetry adoption with secure, high‑performance telemetry infrastructure and reliable service monitoring. This role emphasizes reliability, cost awareness and cross‑team leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerts, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, semantic conventions).
• 5+ years with cloud-native and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed, high-volume data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize, etc.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or similar backends.
• 3+ years with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• 3+ years with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services (Go, Python, Java).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and related patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring of the platform, including SLOs and alerts.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
