Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to design, scale, and operate high-throughput telemetry pipelines across multiple clouds and data centers. Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry.
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize, etc.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or comparable backends.
• 3+ years with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs, health checks and alerting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident reviews.
• Automate workflows and CI/CD to reduce manual toil.
• Ensure secure telemetry via mTLS and secrets management.
• Produce high-quality documentation and best practices.
• Engage with engineering teams to influence roadmap and platform improvements.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and cross-team collaboration.
