Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to design, scale, and operate distributed telemetry pipelines across multiple clouds. You will mentor engineers, define reliability standards, and collaborate with SRE and platform teams to improve onboarding and adoption of observability tooling.

The role emphasizes deep technical expertise in Go, Java, and Python, as well as experience with OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in observability practices including SLIs/SLOs/SLAs.
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, conventions).
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Define SLOs, health checks, and alerting for the observability platform.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
