Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the modernization of the Hospice unit's database stack.

You will drive SQL Server on EC2 migrations to AWS RDS, upgrade paths, and modernize ETL and reporting workloads while ensuring security, compliance, and cost efficiency. You will mentor a team of Hospice DBAs, establish cloud-native monitoring, and partner with DevOps to automate infrastructure using Terraform and AWS tooling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end‑of‑support migrations (e.g., off SQL Server 2016).
• Strong hands‑on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tools (DMS, Glue) and/or modernizing SSIS-based ETL in AWS.
• Experience with Terraform for database infrastructure management.
• Experience with other DB engines (PostgreSQL, Aurora).
• Experience with Windows Server administration.
• AWS certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect).
• Experience mentoring junior DBAs or developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS or upgrade off SQL Server 2016.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports, either to AWS-native services or upgrade on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization through right-sizing, Reserved Instances, and storage tiering.
• Upskill Hospice DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery in AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS and automation.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for all database systems.
