Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the AWS database modernization effort for its Hospice unit. You will drive the strategy for self-managed SQL Server on EC2 and migrations to AWS RDS, while modernizing SSIS/SSRS and optimizing costs across the platform serving hospice patients nationwide.

The role requires 8+ years of DB admin experience, deep SQL Server expertise, and hands-on experience with AWS ETL tools, Terraform, and HITRUST compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+ performance tuning, HA, and DR.
• Hands-on with SSIS and SSRS development, maintenance, and migration.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, monitoring, and migrations.
• Familiarity with AWS-native ETL/tools (DMS, Glue) and SSIS modernization in AWS.
• Experience with Terraform for database infra management.
• Knowledge of HITRUST E1 compliance for databases.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of SQL Server modernization on EC2; migrate to AWS RDS or upgrade off SQL Server 2016.
• Assess, migrate, and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; consider AWS-native ETL/reporting options.
• Drive database cost optimization via right-sizing, Reserved Instances, and storage tiering.
• Upskill and mentor Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database ops and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native database monitoring and alerting using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based infrastructure automation for RDS.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across all database systems.
