Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice database modernization effort, migrating SQL Server workloads to AWS and modernizing ETL/reporting with SSIS/SSRS, while controlling costs and ensuring compliance. You will mentor existing DBAs and collaborate with DevOps on cloud-native infrastructure.

The role focuses on AWS database operations, RDS management, and cloud best practices for healthcare applications serving hospice patients across the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA, and DR.
• Hands-on with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong SSIS and SSRS skills for ETL and reporting.
• Experience with AWS RDS, DMS, and Glue.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Terraform for infra management and cloud practices.
• Knowledge of HITRUST compliance and Windows Server administration.
• Mentoring junior DBAs or developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and AWS RDS migrations.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; evaluate AWS-native ETL/reporting options.
• Drive database cost optimization and capacity planning.
• Upskill Hospice DBA team on AWS database operations.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines (Datadog/CloudWatch).
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery on AWS.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based infrastructure for RDS.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for database systems.
• Support application teams with database needs and optimizations.
• Explore future modernization (PostgreSQL/Aurora) for 2027 roadmap.
