Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to lead production-grade data and AI projects for enterprise customers. You will own the architecture, guide design decisions, and deliver end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development for Databricks platforms.

The role is customer-facing, requires deep engineering expertise, and emphasizes hybrid collaboration with engineering, product, and developer relations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in data engineering, data platforms, analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Knowledge of CI/CD for production deployments.
• Familiar with MLOps, ML/AI models, and AI APIs.
• Ability to design end-to-end data architectures and applications.
• Experience delivering technical projects with defined scope.
• Strong documentation and whiteboard skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to travel ~20%.
• Databricks Certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade data and AI projects with reference architectures and integration.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design and deployment.
• Bootstrap or implement customer projects to drive adoption.
• Own architecture decisions ensuring security and scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to deliver engagements.
• Provide product and implementation feedback to Databricks teams.
• Embed with customer teams across stakeholders.
• Create accelerators and best practices to scale across accounts.
