Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to partner with customers, owning architecture and delivering production‑grade data, ML/AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will lead design decisions, implement end‑to‑end systems, and work with engineering, product, and customer teams to maximize value.

The role blends hands‑on engineering with customer empathy, prioritizing secure, scalable solutions and actionable outcomes across data pipelines, AI models, and user interfaces.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• Working knowledge of two or more cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and Spark internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and APIs.
• Experience delivering production end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience with technical project delivery and stakeholder management.
• Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
• Willingness to travel ~20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solution delivery, architecture, and reference designs.
• Design and build end-to-end data, AI, and application systems.
• Guide customers on architecture and deployment strategies.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and customer teams to meet engagement goals.
• Provide feedback to product and support for rapid issue resolution.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver impact.
• Create accelerators and best practices to scale impact across accounts.
