Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with customers to build and productionize data & AI solutions using the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role thrives at the intersection of technology and business impact, delivering with customer empathy and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering, data platforms or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks.
• Cloud experience across two or more ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Deep experience with Apache Spark and related runtimes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Ability to design end-to-end data architectures combining pipelines and ML models.
• Proven ability to deliver technical projects with clear timelines and outcomes.
• Strong documentation and whiteboarding skills.
• Experience with enterprise clients and multi-stakeholder coordination.
• A proactive, curious, adaptable mindset and willingness to learn.
• Databricks Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade customer projects by delivering reference architectures and data pipelines.
• Guide end-to-end design, build and deployment of big data and AI applications for transformational impact.
• Architect and design secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and customer teams to deliver engagement goals.
• Provide feedback to product and support teams to improve deployments.
• Embed with customer teams to understand challenges and deliver measurable outcomes.
• Develop accelerators, frameworks and best practices that scale across accounts.
