Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to build and productionize data & AI solutions on the Databricks platform. You will own the architecture, lead design decisions, and implement end-to-end systems spanning data engineering, AI, and application development.

This hands-on, customer-facing role emphasizes delivering production-grade projects with strong customer empathy, collaborating with engineering, product, and customer teams to ensure measurable outcomes and broad adoption.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in data engineering, data platforms & analytics, or software engineering.
• Proficient in Python, Scala, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with two or more Cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
• Deep experience with distributed computing with Apache Spark and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
• Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
• Working knowledge of MLOps, ML/AI models and AI APIs.
• Ability to design and deploy end-to-end data architectures combining data pipelines, ML/AI models, and user interfaces.
• Experience in technical project delivery, managing scope, timelines, and outcomes.
• Willingness to travel 20%.

Responsibilities

• Lead production-grade solutions delivery including reference architectures, data ingestion, and ML/AI model integration.
• Guide strategic customers through end-to-end design, build, and deployment of big data and AI applications.
• Embed with customer teams to ensure adoption and measure impact.
• Own architecture decisions to ensure secure, scalable solutions aligned with customer needs and Databricks best practices.
