Job summary

Markel Group in Omaha, Nebraska seeks an experienced professional liability claims examiner/attorney to resolve complex claims with potential mediation or litigation. You will manage coverage analyses, coordinate with defense counsel, and advise underwriters on developments while training peers.

Requirements include 3+ years in professional liability claims or litigation, a college degree (JD preferred), and strong written and oral communication skills. Domestic travel approx. 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound comprehension of insurance coverage posed by professional liability policies.
• Ability to manage complex litigation and analyze complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, negotiate and settle complex professional liability claims.
• Analyze coverage under primary and excess professional liability policies; draft coverage correspondence.
• Manage litigation nationwide; direct and manage defense counsel and settlements.
• Coordinate with underwriting and internal stakeholders; report developments to Claims Manager.
• Mentor and train other team members in claims handling and litigation strategy.
