Markel Group in Omaha, Nebraska, seeks an acknowledged technical expert in casualty claims to resolve high‑complexity and high‑exposure cases, with significant decision‑making authority and autonomy.

This role requires 10+ years of casualty claims or litigation experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex litigation and disagreements. Travel of ~10–20% is anticipated, with collaboration across the Casualty Division.

Formación

• Minimum 10+ years of casualty claims or litigation experience.
• Experience managing third-party administrators, MGAs, and/or MGUs is a plus.
• College degree required; designations preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Sound understanding of casualty liability and excess liability coverage.
• Ability to analyze and convey complex issues both verbally and in writing.
• Experience determining contractual obligations and insurance coverage analyses.
• Ability to manage complex litigation and set reserves.

Responsabilidades

• Investigate, negotiate and settle complex primary and excess policy casualty claims.
• Analyze coverage under primary and excess casualty policies; draft coverage correspondence and communicate positions.
• Manage nationwide litigation; direct defense counsel and manage related expenses.
• Coordinate with underwriting on significant developments and claim management.
• Provide timely updates to management on adverse developments affecting professional liability lines.
• Collaborate in a team environment and support unit and division objectives.
• Summarize complex issues clearly and develop actionable plans.
• Adhere to internal reporting requirements and guidelines.
• Participate in agent-related functions and ongoing training of claims examiners.
