Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield seeks a Lead Operating Engineer to oversee the operation and maintenance of MEP systems at the assigned facility in New Jersey. This role often operates solo and may supervise maintenance staff.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, coordinating with contractors, maintaining inventory, and responding to emergencies while ensuring compliance with codes and directives. Requires 5+ years of related experience and a high school diploma or GED; apprentice/trade school

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; apprentice/trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of related trade experience operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems for the buildings.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and monitor projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, lubricate motors, replace lamps/ballasts/fixtures.
• Inspect belts, bearings, shafts, and perform manufacturer-recommended maintenance.
• Coordinate maintenance with outside contractors and technicians.
• Maintain stock and inventory; respond to emergencies and customer concerns.
• Ensure compliance with codes and company directives; report monthly operations.
