Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to ensure efficient operation and maintenance of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role may be solo or supervise staff, depending on building size. You will oversee routine tasks, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with contractors.

The position requires strong technical skills, 5+ years of experience, and relevant licenses. Overtime may be required to maintain building operations and safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting
• High School Diploma or GED; apprentice program or trade school preferred
• Appropriate license/permit for trade (Journeyman or Master Electrician); EPA 608 Universal Certification
• Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word; HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems knowledge
• Ability to work extended hours/overtime during priority/emergency situations

Responsibilities

• Assist with or conduct daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems and general maintenance
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and assign/monitor activities
• Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, lubricate motors, replace lamps/ballasts, inspect belts and bearings
• Recommend improvements to the preventive maintenance program
• Coordinate maintenance with outside contractors and technicians
• Maintain stock and inventory; respond to emergencies and customer concerns
• Compile and submit monthly reports to management; complete safety training and dress code adherence
