Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Florida seeks a Lead Operating Engineer to manage and maintain the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the assigned facility, ensuring reliability and energy efficiency.

The role may supervise maintenance staff and requires 5+ years in commercial property operations, relevant licenses/credentials, and strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Overtime/on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) is required; trade/apprentice education preferred.
• 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in commercial properties.
• Appropriate licenses/permits (Journeyman/Master Electrician, etc.) as applicable.
• EPA Universal (605) refrigerants certification required or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record; basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience with HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems and building energy management.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or conduct daily operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and coordinate activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, lubricate motors, replace lamps/ballasts/fixtures, belt inspection, bearing replacement, shaft alignment.
• Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance programs.
• Develop and maintain building-specific maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate with outside contractors and technicians.
• Maintain stock and inventory; respond to emergencies and customer concerns.
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations; prepare monthly reports.
