Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to ensure efficient operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial facility. This role often serves as solo engineer on-site, with supervision of maintenance staff as needed.

You will perform preventive maintenance, coordinate with contractors, maintain inventory, respond to emergencies, and comply with safety standards. Strong licenses, EPA 608, and energy-management knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; apprentice program/trade school preferred.
• Appropriate trade license/permit as required (Journeyman/Master Electrician, etc.).
• EPA Section 608 Universal certification for refrigerants.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems knowledge; energy management awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or conduct daily operations and maintenance of MEP systems.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and monitor activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance including filters, lamps, bearings, belts, and motor upkeep.
• Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance programs.
• Develop and maintain building-specific maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate maintenance with outside contractors and technicians.
• Maintain stock and inventory control.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns.
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety practices.
