Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to manage the daily operations of the Columbia DC facility. You will oversee mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring reliability and optimal performance.

The role may involve supervising building staff and coordinating with contractors. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in operating MEP systems, with appropriate licenses, and a track record of preventive maintenance, emergency response, and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; apprenticeship or trade school preferred.
• 5+ years of related trade experience in operating mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Valid trade licenses/permits as required (Journeyman/Master Electrician, city licenses, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for the building.
• Supervise maintenance staff when applicable and assign monitoring tasks.
• Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, lubricate motors, replace lamps/ballasts.
• Coordinate maintenance with outside contractors and technicians.
• Respond to emergencies and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Compile monthly reports and keep management informed of operations.
• Maintain inventory and ensure compliance with safety training and dress code.
