Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an Operating Engineer to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems across assigned properties in Washington, DC. The role involves rounds, routine assessments, preventive and corrective maintenance, and site housekeeping to uphold safety and performance.

Candidates should have 5+ years experience in operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial setting, with relevant licenses as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school preferred.
• Appropriate trade license may be required (e.g., Journeyman/Master Electrician).

Responsibilities

• Maintain heating equipment, chillers, DX units, pumps, and cooling towers to ensure comfortable environments.
• Perform rounds and routine inspections; monitor energy management and make necessary repairs.
• Repair doors, ceilings, rails, floors and other general repairs and installations.
• Inspect emergency systems, NFPA life safety inspections, and coordinate with supervisors.
• Document activities and respond to emergencies promptly.
• Complete safety trainings and comply with dress code.
