Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer in the West Central region. You will lead design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater facilities, preparing drawings, specs, and permitting support.

You’ll coordinate with vendors and work with architects and other engineers, mentoring junior staff while ensuring quality and schedule. The role requires a PE license, a BS in mechanical engineering, and 10+ years of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design experience on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years’ experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for design-build projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Motivation, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, odor control, fire protection) for water and wastewater facilities.
• Prepare design drawings and specifications for client submissions and permitting support.
• Perform calculations for piping, air flows, pump sizing, and energy analyses.
• Coordinate with vendors, select equipment, and edit specifications.
• Develop master plans and field investigations; create as-built drawings.
• Manage project teams and interface with clients and other disciplines.
• Provide design guidance to junior staff and support field staff during construction.
• Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to discuss design issues and project needs.
