Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to contribute to infrastructure projects across the West Central region. You will join a core team focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection for water, wastewater, and industrial facilities, coordinating with architects and other engineers.

The role requires a PE license (or within one year) and a minimum of 5 years of progressive building mechanical experience, with strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving, organizational and multitasking skills.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Design complete HVAC systems including central plants and package units.
• Design plumbing, drainage, and utility systems for buildings.
• Design fire protection systems using performance-based approaches.
• Conduct HVAC load, duct, and pipe sizing, energy analyses and codes compliance.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specs, and basis of design reports.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and technicians; mentor junior staff.
• Lead client meetings and manage project budgets and schedules.
• Support field staff during construction and respond to submittals.
