Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Leader in the Bridges and Structures group to champion technical leadership across HDR’s major bridge portfolio. The Major Bridge Technical Director will guide design and production, staff assignments, and project execution with a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

The role requires deep experience in long-span bridge design, strong leadership, and the ability to mentor engineers while advancing HDR’s employee-owned culture across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in structural engineering.
• 10+ years bridge design experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng) with reciprocity.
• Experience leading major long-span bridge projects (≥900 ft main span).
• Familiarity with design-build or P3 delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct large, multi-disciplinary bridge projects.
• Provide technical oversight and cross-team coordination.
• Deliver design leadership for bridge projects and engage with design teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and supervise staff across locations.
• Oversee QA/QC procedures and project documentation.
